This blog post comes with a big WARNING sign. Seth’s at the
keyboard today, and is he ever in a bad mood! I’ve never seen him like this. It’s
usually me who’s grumpy and bad tempered, but the book he’s just finished has
got him so worked up . . . So read at your peril.
Seth writes . . .
She’s right. I am angry because I hate injustice. That may
be because since my parents died, I’ve had more than my fair share of
unwarranted kicks in the teeth. So why did I read a book based on a world where
there is no mercy only justice? I guess I’m stupid. Or maybe it was because the
book blurb was so compelling.
Erin interrupts . . . We’ll go with the later option! And he’s
right. The blurb is amazing. Who could resist this?
How do you get desperately needed answers when no one is
talking? Who do you trust in a place full of criminals, a place where it’s easy
to mistake friends for enemies and enemies for friends? And how is it possible
for one girl to seemingly vanish into thin air, especially when the place is
surrounded by sixteen foot high electric fences?
When Trigg and his sister Ren are sentenced to township 101 for the crime of defending themselves, and Ren suddenly comes up missing, Trigg must ask himself these same questions.
Something else he’d like to know is, how do you survive when the flaws of the NAO’s justice system has turned a simple punishment into a game of life or death?

Erin, do you mind? This is my post, my book review and my blog. For today at least. Jeez, what does a guy have to do to get heard around here?
Now as I was saying, in 101 society, tired of crime, has
introduced something called the NAO justice system. Basically, you cross the
line and you’re condemned, virtually without trial, to a harsh prison town with
no recourse for appeal. Sounds like Shenaya; excepting there you would either
be executed or bound into slavery. But you get the idea – 101 isn’t a fun
place, especially if you’re innocent. So enter Trigg and his sister Ren who are
sentenced to years of imprisonment at 101.
Erin interrupts - again . . .
I think the real reason Seth
is in a bad mood is that he sees himself in Trigg. Like Seth, Trigg is a
peacemaker, who hates conflct. But sometimes in life you just have to stand up
and fight. Like Trigg did in 101. Between you and me, Seth knows he’s going to
have to go to war against Reuel and his demons, but he really would rather try
and negotiate with them. Of course, us fighters know that never works.
Just ignore Erin – she thinks everything in life can be
solved by force. Anyway Trigg and Ren were separated the day they arrived at
101, and no one would listen to him, or help him find her. And believe me, he
took a few beatings looking for information to get her back.
In fact, there’s only one other person I know who’s more loyal
(translate that as stupid) than Trigg. And that’s me, but in my case I pledged
my allegiance to the wrong guy. Trigg never lost focus. He kept his eye on the
main goal: get his sister back from 101’s megalomaniac killer, Ace.
Trust me, that lead to one nail-biting, page-turning
adventure. I finished reading 101 at about midnight, and had so much adrenaline
pumping through me, I didn’t sleep for hours. So if you’re looking for a book
that will move you from anger, to fear-filled tension, and
finally sad contentment then this book is for you. I guess, I’m still working
at getting to the sad contentment.
Okay Erin. I know you are dying to have the last word . . .
Erin writes . . .
He’s got that right. Seth won’t talk about this, but for
those who are wondering, 101 doesn’t have much romance. Although Trigg does
meet an interesting girl whom he falls in love with, but with some devastating
consequences. Margaret Chatwin doesn’t hold her punches.
Seth writes . . .
What is it with girls that all they can think about is
romance? And hot guys.
Erin writes . . .
Like I said, Seth’s in a bad mood. Hopefully things will
improve by Wednesday, because we’ll be interviewing Margaret Chatwin. And then
- tarantara – Trigg, Ren and Ace are visiting us on Friday so you can get to
know them to.
In the meantime if you would like to win a copy of 101 you
can enter our giveaway. And it is a cool giveaway. We have a PAPERBACK copy and
